Starting Monday, January 14, approximately 250 figure skaters descend upon Mississauga, where the Canadian Figure Skating Championships are set to unfold at the Hershey Centre for the first time in the city\'s history. The weeklong competition features novice, junior, and senior skaters demonstrating their skills in an assortment of competitions that includes pattern dance, free dance, and short programs. Vying for more than judge\'s scores and the adoration of the nation\'s zamboni drivers, competitors put their future on the line as they battle for spots on the Skate Canada national team, as well as for esteemed events around the globe. The event culminates on Sunday, January 20, with a seniorlevel freedance event, followed by an exhibition gala to celebrate the talent that has been put on display.
